1. Background

Oil and gas resources is one of the most important strategic materials which has an great impact on the country’s political and economic, is the foundation and safeguard of nation’s development. Along with the changes in the pattern of global oil and gas resources, countries in the world have adjusted the strategy of oil and gas in order to occupy more resources in the future. At present,Chinais the world’s second big consumer of oil and gas. The strategic oil reserves is not enough and the external dependency is up to 60%. It is difficult to cope with the volatile international situation. Oil and gas resource security issue has become an important problem that we must face up to and unable to avoid.

Land oil and gas development inChinahas more than 60 years. With the deepening of exploration and development, the proportion of poor quality and the difficulty of the drilling in the remaining oil resources is more and more big. In the short term, we can not achieve great breakthrough in the inland oil and gas development due to the limitation of the existing oil and gas drilling and exploration technology. Therefore, the development of Marine oil and gas is our inevitable choice. Foreign countries carried out the related work of marine oil and gas early. Our country is rich in marine oil and gas, especially south sea that is regared as "the second Persian gulf". At present,Vietnam,Philippinesand other southeast Asian countries are exploiting the marine oil and gas of the south sea. A big gap of the equipment and technology between our country and developed countries restrict the progress of exploitation of oil and gas in the south sea.

Offshore oil and gas pipelines is one of the importment equipments for the connection of interior facilities and the transportation of oil and gas. It is referred to as the "lifeline" in the industry. It mainly divided into two major categories according to the materials: steel pipe and flexible pipe. Compared with steel pipe, offshore flexible pipe has lightweight, spooling, recycled, economic and many other advantages, and its application in offshore oil and gas engineering is increasing.

In the early 1870s, Foreign countries had to carry out the related research of offshore flexible pipe,and applied them successfully. At present, the design, production, installation and maintenance of offshore flexible pipe are monopolized by foreign companies, mainly including Technip, Wellstream and NKT. They respectively occupy the international market share of 75%, 15% and 10%.

The research of offshore flexible pipe technology research is still in its infancy in our country, and there is a big gap compared with developed countries. Many key technologies are monopolized by a handful of developed countries. Offshore flexible pipe is still mainly rely on foreign imports at present stage. Not only expensive, but the purchasing time is long. It has a serious impact on the efficiency and benefit of oil and gas industry and restricts the developing process of marine oil and gas.

2. Overall goal and research content

The project of “The manufacturing and engineering demonstration of ultra deepwater multi-purpose flexible pipe” is led by weihai nacheon pipeline co., LTD. Many organizations participate in the project together and jointly develop nonmetallic bonding ultra deepwater multi-purpose flexible pipe which is applicable to 3000m water depth, master the technology of design, production, testing, installation; set up quality standards; pass API certification; complete engineering demonstration.

Ultra deepwater multi-purpose flexible pipe can satisfy almost all requirements on each aspect of oil and gas industry in 3000m water depth deriving from its excellent static and dynamic properties. It can be used as either deepwater/ultra deepwater riser, jumper, flowline etc., or coiled tubing used in downhole tubing, water injection pipe, workover operations, etc. The flexible pipe which made form temperature-resistant materials is suitable for heavy oil exploitation at high temperature (180℃) and other special areas.

3.The desired effect

The implementation of ultra deepwater multi-purpose flexible pipe project will change the passive situation and improve the coverage and development space of marine oil and gas. It is of great significance for ensuring national energy safety. Besides, the flexible pipe will help to expand the high-end marine equipment market greatly and enhance the awareness and competitiveness of domestic marine equipment brand under the influence of “One Belt And One Road” policy.
